 The ARA Welcomes a
New Marketing Manager
 Burhan Osman
The ARA is excited to be welcoming Burhan Osman to its team. Beginning in May 2022, Burhan joined the ARA as marketing
manager. He will oversee the marketing
and communication efforts of the team, as well as photography, and he will use his design skill to develop engaging creatives for the association.
Burhan was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. A graduate of Carleton University, Burhan decided to switch career paths and get involved in the graphic design and marketing industries. In 2015, he moved to Vancouver, B.C., to attend Langara College, where he earned a diploma in Digital and Print Publishing. After finishing at Langara, Burhan worked freelance for a number of months, before becoming employed at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He worked there for a number of years across a number of divisions, including UBC Vantage College and the Faculty of Applied Science.
Burhan then moved from UBC to Aplicar, a local education tech start up. There, Burhan was the creative lead/communications and
marketing lead, and he helped the company launch its social media and blog channels. During this time, Burhan also worked as a senior designer for the Indigenous-owned public relations firm, pipikwan pêhtâkwan (formerly known as Gwin Communications). He was able to take his vested interest in social justice and anti-oppressive learning and work on a number of projects in a number of Indigenous communities. While there, he spearheaded design and branding projects for a number of clients, including the Government of Alberta, the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, the University of Alberta, the Dene Nation, and more.
In his free time, Burhan loves spending time on the beach, hanging out with friends, going out to eat, working on freelance projects, and cooking. He is an avid supporter of Arsenal Football Club, and he hopes to visit London soon to catch a game. n
